I do remember the old days working in the warehouse trying to unload semi trucks by hand. We were a small company and could not afford even a used low cost forklift to unload pallets from trucks. It was back breaking work and your clothes would be soaked from sweat and stink like a goat. I am not kiddling though; after a year I started to look like a body builder. It was hard work for only five bucks an hour but someone had to do it. In the beginning I would cringe when the sales department would bring out a big order that would take all day. Even worse is when two trucks would show up at the same time and you had to unload them. When we started to get busy, the boss came up with some cash and bought us a pallet jack. That was so nice of him to do that for us.

When I became a manager I knew we had to do something to speed up shipping and receiving out in the warehouse.
